How To Host Images

I'm sure some of you want to host your favourite photos, so you're wondering how and where do it. Last time there's a huge list of image hosts which can easily host all of your images, unfortunately they mostly need to access www to upload photos, and you can upload only one image. One of the hosts that use settings like this is ImageVenue, it allows to upload 5 photos at same time + mass upload via FTP, but you need to do multiple actions to do that. I'll show you how to easily upload photos to ImageVenue server using a simply tool so you don't need to access www.

All what we need to do that is:

  • SharpUploader
  • .NET Framework 1.1 installed on your PC (SharpUploader needs it to run)
  • Some pictures for upload
  • Now when SharpUploader is running you can see main window:

    1. File upload list
    2. Here you can set how many images will be displayed per row and what will be the spacer (usefull for posting on boards using bbcode)
    3. Set content of photos, if they're adult or not
    4. Output code generated after upload. Example codes are:

Direct image URL (to use via instant messenger, email etc.): %URL%
    Thumbnail code: %IMG
    Link + Thumbnail for www: <a href="%URL%"><img src="%IMG%"></a>
Forum posting code BBCODE for example IPB board: [URL="%URL%"][IMG]%IMG%[/IMG][/URL]

    5. Control buttons, here you can add whole dir of photos, clear photos list, move photos up and down on list etc.
    6. Upload button, clicking it = start of uploading photos
    7. Info about host which is actually chosen, this version of SharpUploader allows to upload only on ImageVenue

Now when we know how main window looks we need to upload photos to do that, click Add Dir button and load whole folder or choose single photos by opening photos folder and drag it into photos list in SharpUploader.
You need also to choose what's content of the photos. For example if you want to upload pics which contain a family etc. content you need to choose SFW (no nudity), but if photos are adult releated (18+) you need to choose NSFW (adult content it's important to make a network safe.
You can also set output code and images displaying functions like images per row and spacing but you don't need to do that now because you can change if later.
To upload photos push Upload Now button.

Now uploading has started, I'll tell something about progress window:

    1. Progress meter in %
    2. Graphic progress meter
    3. Detailed info about upload like: Estimated Time, Time Elapsed, how many images have been uploaded already, and number of connections
    4. Abort button = abort whole upload progress

Set Threshold = how many images is going to be uploaded at same time (number of bots or threads as you like).

When photos are uploaded you can see this window:

    1. Links for uploaded photos, they depend on used Output Style
    2. Output style you can change links code now as I said above you can use multiple codes for example direct photo, for www with thumbnail or for board
    3. Values needed for posting photos on www or board, Images Per Row lets you to set how many photos will be uploaded in one line and Image Spacer lets you to choose a spacer value between photos
    4. Generate code button lets you to change links code after changing output style etc.
    5. Copy to ClipBoard = copy links to clipboard and Save to File = save links to *.txt file
    6. Upload More = upload more photos in other session

Now you know how to easily host a lot of photos without accessing annoying www panels etc. It's very usefull if you want to post galleries fast. Remember that maximum file size allowed on ImageVenue = 1,5 MB (1536 KB).
